Artists and Buskers hit the Streets of Picton for Paint the County ...

Local Painters, Musicians and Creative Talents on Display this Saturday on Picton Main Street

Picton, Ontario, July 28, 2011 ? Celebrate the Summer on Saturday July 30th on Picton?s Main Street. County Artists have been invited to set up their easels and paint ?En Plein Air?. This is a perfect opportunity for the public to observe artists at work and purchase these magnificent creations. While they paint, enjoy the music of entertainers on the street, including the internationally-known Tine Rufaro Marimba Band.

This mid-summer celebration takes place in downtown Picton with art demonstrations, entertainment and huge sidewalk sales. Paint the County & Streetfest is a collaboration of: the Picton Business Improvement Association, Prince Edward Arts County Arts Council, Arts on Main Gallery, and the Regent Theatre.

Art on the Street or ?Plein Air? Painting will take place Saturday from 10am to 4pm featuring local painters Pamela Carter, Mil? Murtanovski, Robin Wall, Cynthia Dinsdale, Ron Pickering, Andrew Csafordi, Judy Kent, Melanie Taylor, and Mia Lane. The Paint the County Picnic takes place on Saturday from 12pm to 2pm on the Armoury Lawn (205 Main Street, Picton). Stop by to see live art demonstrations, enjoy gelato and fresh lemonade.

Bid on your favourite work at the Regent Theatre (226 Main Street, Picton). Whether it?s a ?plein air? piece or a donated art work, visit the Paint the County Silent Auction taking place in the Lobby of the Regent Theatre on Saturday July 30th and Sunday July 31st from 12pm ? 5pm. All proceeds will go to PEC Alternatives for Women and PEC Arts Council.

Picton?s Streetfest will take place on Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Enjoy Sidewalk Sales by local merchants, Special Menus at fine dining, casual dining & cozy cafes, a Giant Book Sale at the Picton Library, the Artisan Market in the Royal Walkway (11am to 4pm), and Buskers performing along the Street. Food Day Canada rounds out the daytime activities with a number of local restaurants serving meals comprised of all locally grown products.

CLIC Eastern Ontario Photo Show & Sale opens this Saturday & Sunday from 10am to 6pm. The exhibition is located on the second floor of Books & Company (289 Main Street, Picton). Admission for adults $2.00 and children age 12 and under are free.

Of course, you?ll want to finish your day with the 2nd Annual CountyStock on Saturday 5pm to 10pm. Bring your lawn chair and bring your friends to a free concert featuring local entertainment in Delhi Park. BBQ, Merchandizing Tables & Vendors located in Mary Street Parking Lot.
