When a group of cells grow uncontrollably in the body and intrude upon and cause damage to other tissues nearby, it is called cancer. There are two main causes for cancer they are ? environmental factors and genetic factors.
Cancer as a disease does not have a cure and it can only be controlled from time to time. A very common type of cancer in male is the cancer of prostate.
The prostate is a gland of male reproductive organ. Prostate cancer is slow increasing and there have been cases where the cancer has been very aggressive. The cancer spreads mainly to the bones and lymph nodes in the earlier stages and can spread to many other parts of the body if it is left untreated.
Prostate cancer is one of the most observed types of cancer in male and there are more American and European men affected by this than Asian men. Prostate cancer usually develops in men who are past the age of fifty and in two thirds of the cases, it is slow growing.
There are innumerable cases where the cancer has not been detected because the symptoms were not significant enough and those who were affected, died due to various other reasons like a cardiac failure, lung infections, any other type of cancer or just old age.
Here are some facts about prostate cancer in men that will help you better understand this dreaded disease.

Alaskan natives, American Indians, Pacific Islanders and Asians are less prone to this type of cancer than White men and Hispanic men are most affected by this type of cancer. Prostate cancer is very common cancer in men and is the second largest reason for cancer fatalities among American men.
Screenings
Men above the age of fifty must get a rectal examination that can be done digitally. If there is a family history or if any of the symptoms of this cancer are pronounced, then this test should be done as soon as men turn 40. A PSA test can be done to check for the onset of prostate cancer.
Since cancer does not have a cure as yet, early detection is the key. Always be aware of our body and do not take even the slightest symptom you have lightly.
