RENO, Nev. -- A former auditor for the Nevada Gaming Control Board has been named the state's new tax director.
Gov. Brian Sandoval announced his appointment Wednesday of William Chisel to the post effective Sept. 12. Chisel currently is chief of the state Taxation Department's Division of Internal Audits. Sandoval says Chisel's audits -- combined with his help in preparing budgets -- has resulted in saving taxpayers about $145 million over the past three years.
The governor says the department's interim director, Chris Nielsen, will return to his post as deputy tax director.
