NBC's debut of "The Voice" was a big hit Tuesday, registering a 5.1 rating/13 share in the 18-49 demo and drawing 11.8 million viewers. It's the highest rated series premiere on any major network in the demo since CBS' "Undercover Boss" debuted Feb. 7, 2010, following the Super Bowl. With the impressive launch of "The Voice," NBC captured the night. It handily defeated Fox and ABC, both of which aired some of their top programming. CBS came in fourth, but televised only repeats of its procedural dramas. What was also encouraging to the Peacock was that "The Voice" increased its total viewers in three of the four half-hours of the two-hour telecast. Only the last hour slightly dipped, likely because audiences were going to bed. The demos went up in each half hour as well.Leading off for NBC was its longtime reality staple "The Biggest Loser" (2.7/8, 7.4m). Just under 4 million new viewers tuned in to NBC to watch "The Voice" after "The Biggest Loser" concluded.Fox tried to draw music fans over with a 90-minute "Glee," featuring Lady Gaga, but she proved no match for "The Voice" coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. "Glee" (3.4/10, 8.5m) was down 11% from a week ago. Comedy "Raising Hope" (1.9/5, 4.5m) was down as well, dropping 10%.While "The Voice" was clearly the biggest winner of the night, ABC had the largest audience with two hours of "Dancing With the Stars." An 8 o'clock special drew a 2.4/7 and 12.8 million viewers. The lead-out results show scored a 3.5/9, with a Tuesday-topping 17.9 million. With "Body of Proof" (2.3/6, 12m) closing out the night, the Alphabet improved 32% in total viewers from a week ago and a saw a 23% uptick in the demo. It was the best Tuesday for ABC since Nov. 23, 2010.CBS decided to stay out of the competitive fray and offered repeats of "NCIS" (2.0/6, 11.1m), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (2.0/5, 10.2m) and "The Mentalist" (1.6/4, 8m).At the CW, "One Tree Hill" (0.7/2, 1.5m) and "Hellcats" (0.4/1, 1m) rounded out the night.Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: NBC, 4.3/11; Fox, 3.0/8; ABC, 2.7/7; CBS, 1.9/5; CW, 0.6/2.In total viewers: ABC, 14.3 million; NBC, 10.3 million; CBS, 9.7 million; Fox, 6.7 million; CW, 1.2 million.
